ST. PETERSBURG – On October 6, dozens of Florida scientists will convene a “Climate Science and Solutions Summit” at Eckerd College in St. Petersburg. The event is open to the public and there is no cost to attend. The scientists organized the event after Gov. Rick Scott expressed interest in the topic when he met with them last month, and they have invited the governor and other state officials to attend this informative event.
"It is crucial for policymakers to understand that human activity is increasing harmful pollution and leading to adverse effects on our economy, health and well-being," said the group in a release announcing the event. "Policymakers must utilize scientific expertise regarding the current and future threats to Florida as well as the solutions that can create jobs and bolster the economy."
The event will take place from 1:30-5 p.m. on Monday, October 6 at Fox Hall at Eckerd college, 4200 54th Ave S, St Petersburg, FL 33711.
