BRADENTON – In what became a vicious, attack-laden race, Assistant State Attorney Ed Brodsky edged his former co-worker Peter Lombardo to win the Republican nomination for the office being vacated by longtime incumbent Earl Moreland.
Brodsky managed 51.4 percent of the vote to top Lombardo 12,811 votes to 12,068. He will face unopposed Democrat John Torraco in November. The district includes Manatee, Sarasota and De Soto counties.
