Elgene Gainey, 89, Bradenton, Florida, passed away on November 21, 2023 in Bradenton, Florida.
Elgene was born in McClenny, Florida to Wesley and Lila Gainey on May 22, 1934. He graduated Manatee High School and joined the United States Navy in 1953 and was honorably discharged in 1956. He worked in the Water Management Department for the City of Sarasota, Florida until he retired.
He enjoyed fishing, camping, NASCAR, traveling, and family get togethers. He was involved with Moose and the Eagles.
Eugene is survived by his son, Stevie Gainey, son, Larry Gainey, daughter, Valarie Gainey all of Bradenton, Florida. He has 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, brothers, Don Gainey, Ricky (Pat) Gainey and sister, Diane Snyder and companion, Sheri Summerall. He was preceded in death by his spouse, Ester Janelle Gainey, parents, Wesley and Lila Gainey, daughter, Barbara Gainey, two granddaughters.
Funeral Services will be held at Roberts Toale & Sons Funeral Home at Manasota Memorial Park, 1221 53rd Avenue East, Bradenton, Florida 34203 on November 30, 2023, Funeral at Noon, Visitation is from 10 AM to Noon.
