The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission will hold discussions on some of the state's most endangered animals this week in Sarasota.

The discussions will take place over three days, from Tuesday, June 23 to Thursday, June 25, at the Hyatt Regency.

On Tuesday, discussions will be held on policy direction for conservation and management regarding the Florida panther, as well as changes made to the state's Imperiled Species Management Plan.

Rules for bear management and a limited bear hunting season, along with proposed rules on changing length limits for black bass will be discussed Wednesday. On Thursday, a proposed rule on addressing South Florida's decline of barracuda populations, and a possible opportunity for lobster harvesters who remove invasive lionfish during the two-day lobster mini-season will be discussed.

The full agenda and links to background reports can be found here (go to 'commission meetings'). Live coverage of the event can be found on FWC's twitter channel (https://twitter.com/MyFWC). For possible live coverage, go to the Florida Channel at thefloridachannel.org.
