SARASOTA — Classic rock legends Foreigner will return to SRQ next month for a January 12 show at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall. The band is touring in support of its recently released box set, Feels Like the First Time.
The Sarasota High School Choir will be performing with the band on their classic hit I Want To Know What Love Is. Foreigner will donate $500.00 to the choir for appearing with the band, and the choir will sell Foreigner CDs at the concert to raise monies for Foreigner’s charity partner, The Grammy Foundation and their mission to keep music education available to students as part of the core curriculum in high schools throughout North America.
The band's new set features three discs worth of music. Disc one of the collection contains popular hits, while another features acoustic versions and the third contains newly recorded studio versions of the hits. The album debuted in the Billboard Top 200 chart at #43, after selling over 10,000 units out of the gate.
The band, which is best know for hit songs like Hot Blooded, I Wanna Know What Love Is and Jukebox Hero, remains one of the most frequently played acts in the classic rock radio genre.
Formed by Mick Jones in 1976, Foreigner has been through many incarnations. The current line-up still features Jones, who is the only original member. The band is fronted by rock veteran Kelly Hansen, who replaced Lou Gramm in 2005.
