Fryer's Three-Run Homer Lifts Bradenton Marauders Over Dunedin Blue Jays

Posted

DUNEDIN -- A three-run homer by catcher Eric Fryer in the 4th, off Blue Jays starter Jesse Litsch, made the difference in Sunday’s game, ending Dunedin's six-game winning streak with a 3-2 victory for the Marauders.

Litsch (1-1) made his second rehab start since surgery 11 months ago. He pitched well into the 4th when he gave up singles to Quincy Latimore and Tony Sanchez to lead off the inning.

The Marauders return home May 24

That brought up Fryer, who took the first pitch deep, an opposite-field shot that wound up being the game-winning runs early in the contest.

Left-hander Jeff Locke (4-2), shut down the Blue Jays for seven innings, giving up only four hits and striking out five, his lone mistake to Tyler Pastornicky, who took the southpaw deep to left field for a homerun.

No player for either team had more than one hit, and all five runs came from homers. Each team had five total hits, with the only extra base hits being the three home runs.

Litsch is now expected to move up to Triple-A Las Vegas to continue his rehab process. He was originally slated to go to Double-A New Hampshire later this week.

The Blue Jays continue their home struggles, as they are now 7-10 at home compared to 14-6 on the road. The series will continue Monday night in Dunedin. The Marauders are leading the South Division, a half-game up on Palm Beach. The club is two games into a nine-day road trip, returning to McKechnie Field on May 24 to host Fort Myers.
