The storm that was codenamed Invest 99L has formed into a tropical depression as expected, though the National Hurricane Center says that its possible strengthening into a tropical storm remains uncertain.
Now known as Tropical Depression Nine, the storm was 200 miles west of Key West as of late Monday night. It is forecast to make a turn northeast and make contact with Florida's Gulf Coast.
Despite its uncertain future, the Southwest Florida region can still expect a torrent of rain through Thursday.
