Goodwill Manasota director appointed to National Cooperative Purchasing Program board

SARASOTA/BRADENTON, FL – Sam Budd, Goodwill Manasota’s materials management director, was recently named to the Goodwill National Cooperative Purchasing Program (NCPP) advisory board. The NCPP is operated by the Goodwill of Central and Coastal Virginia and serves as an independent purchasing agency that works to leverage the collective purchasing power of Goodwill organizations throughout the nation.

The purpose of the NCPP is to ensure the best prices and discounts supported by manufacturers for all Goodwills. Members of the NCPP advisory board are tasked with verifying that the Goodwill NCPP is aligned and operates in accordance with the purchasing needs of Goodwill affiliates.

NCPP board members are tasked with recommending leaders for NCPP with respect to current operations; they serve as ambassadors for the board by communicating opportunities and benefits of the program with Goodwill organizations around the country. This is the inaugural year for the advisory board, which will serve to increase the positive impact of the group.

In his role as the director of materials management for Goodwill, Budd is responsible for the overall function and operation of Goodwill Manasota’s Purchasing Department. He evaluates the needs of the operation and negotiates contracts with vendors with regard to product and services, examines bid proposals, and works with other departments to ensure that needs are being met throughout the company. With more than 20 years of experience in retail buying and purchasing, Budd has worked at Goodwill Manasota for 10 years. An animal lover, Budd is an active supporter of the Bishop Animal Shelter and the local Humane Societies. He graduated from Florida State University, earning his bachelor’s degree in Business Management with a focus in Industrial and Labor Relations. He has lived in the area for 30 years.
