The Old Braden River Historical Society will be holding its Second Annual Winter River Cleanup from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday.
The group will be cleaning up the lower Braden River between the dam at State Road 70 and the Manatee River, a press release said.
There will be a prize for the most unusual item found in the river during the cleanup. There will also be free food and free use of a kayak or canoe.
The event stages from King Ranch Manatee, and volunteers under age 18 must bring a parent or guardian to sign a consent form.
