HealthSource of Manatee East to Help Ease Funding and Potential Pain-Related Issues for Local Students

Posted

BRADENTON-- A new school support program founded by HealthSource Chiropractic and Progressive Rehabª will provide funding for local schools, while helping to relieve pain-related issues for students and members of the community.

The program will provide free community health screenings in exchange for $10 donations to participating Manatee County PSO or PTA. Students will also receive a special promotional offer of 30% off retail price to purchase a new HUG¨ backpack, which uses new technology to reduce the weight-bearing stress on the shoulders and backs of students by more than 50 percent. $10 from the sale of each HUG backpack will also be donated to the same organization.

The free health screenings (a $189 value) will help track down even the smallest amounts of pain, including those suffering from a wide range of problems such as low back pain, headaches, neck pain, shoulder or arm pain, bulging or herniated discs, leg pain, numbness and more. Even X-Rays will be included if necessary.

The $10 donations will be accepted at the office located at 6156 SR 70 E, Bradenton up until September 30th. Contributors are encouraged to call and set up an appointment.
According to statistics, more than 3000 children each year require emergency room visits for backpack-related injuries. Thousands more are treated for headaches, neck, and shoulder problems related to improper backpack usage.

Improper backpack use can also lead to poor posture and scoliosis. Girls and younger kids may be especially at risk for backpack-related injuries because they're smaller and may carry loads that are heavier in proportion to their body weight. Also, backpacks with tight, narrow straps that dig into the shoulders can interfere with circulation and nerves. These types of straps can contribute to tingling, numbness, and weakness in the arms and hands.
