Hunsicker Given Award by TDC

BRADENTON – At Monday's Manatee Tourist Development Council meeting, Manatee County Parks and Natural Resources Director Charlie Hunsicker was presented with an award naming him Tourist Ambassador of the Year.

Before presenting Hunsicker with his award trophy, members cited a national award Manatee County received for a recent beach re-nourishment project on Anna Maria Island - the Robert L. Wiegel Coastal Project Award.

Hunsicker secured the state and federal funding to move more that one million cubic yards of sand from an off-shore location that led to the award-winning project's completion.

After the board presented him with his Ambassador Award, Hunsicker said, "I hope this isn't a life achievement award, because I still have a lot more I'm going to do."
