BRADENTON -- In our new weekend segment we will now be featuring a fishing/boating related product -- this week check out the Siren Marine Pixie and Spritea i tracking and monitoring device that alerts boat owners via text message if their vessel moves outside a geoference boundary, has dangerously low battery level or their bilge pump stops working. Boat stolen?  Shut it down with a command from any cellphone!. Boating events scheduled for this weekend include the Suncoast Boat show at Marina Jack's in Sarasota, the shrimp festival in Port Orange and the Pompano Beach Seafood Festival.

Upcoming Events 


Pompano Beach Seafood Festival April 20-22, 2012 

  • The festival will be held on the corner of Atlantic Boulevard and A1A in Pompano Beach, Florida.
  • Kids 10 years and under are admitted free all days. Adult admission is $10 on Friday from 5:00 to 10:00 p.m.  Adult admission is $12 on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., and on Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.  Revenues help benefit a wide variety of charities and civic organizations. Seafood is the main attraction in addition to the popular Boardwalk Bazaar, which is a mix of arts and crafts, clothing, and displays by local businesses. The main area is on the beach. The kid’s area fun zone will feature games, bungee jumps, rock climbing wall, bounce houses, face painters and more. Live entertainment daily.

Fishing Forecast 

A weakening cold front is moving across the eastern Gulf waters and will track over the coastal waters tonight. The boundary is gradually dissipating with weak high pressure returning for Thursday and Friday. Then a low pressure system intensifies along the northern Gulf Coast Friday night and moves slowly into the Florida Panhandle by Sunday morning. A strong cold front extending southward from the low center will be moving through the waters Saturday night and Sunday. Strong westerly winds with gusts to gale force are possible over the weekend.

 

Thursday

Southwest winds around 10 knots. Bay and inland waters a light chop. A slight chance of thunderstorms. Thursday night will bring south winds around 5 knots. Bay and inland waters smooth.

 

Friday

West winds around 10 knots. Bay and inland waters a light chop. A slight chance of thunderstorms. A chance of showers in the afternoon. Friday night will bring south winds around 10 knots. Bay and inland waters a light chop. A slight chance of thunderstorms.

 

Saturday

South winds around 15 knots. Bay and inland waters a moderate chop. A chance of thunderstorms. Saturday night will bring south winds 20 to 25 knots. Bay and inland waters rough. A chance of thunderstorms.

 

Sunday

Southwest winds 20 to 25 knots. Bay and inland waters rough. A chance of thunderstorms. Sunday night will bring west winds around 20 knots. Bay and inland waters choppy. A slight chance of thunderstorms in the evening.
