BRADENTON -- The first annual West Coast Tarpon Challenge will be held in Bradenton this weekend, with all proceeds benefiting All Children’s Hospital. There is even a kayak division which will commence on Saturday, the 24th. Fishing has been on fire, with tarpon congregating off the beaches and snook and trout biting inshore. Anglers are encouraged to get in on all the action in the upcoming weekend although there is a slight chance of thuderstorms all weekend.

Tropical Depression Debby will move away from the state today allowing winds and seas to slowly subside. High pressure over the southeastern states will shift southward into the northern Gulf on Thursday and into the Florida Straits by Saturday. The ridge of high pressure will build back over the Florida Peninsula on Sunday.
