BRADENTON -- The first annual West Coast Tarpon Challenge will be held in Bradenton this weekend, with all proceeds benefiting All Children’s Hospital. There is even a kayak division which will commence on Saturday, the 24th. Fishing has been on fire, with tarpon congregating off the beaches and snook and trout biting inshore. Anglers are encouraged to get in on all the action in the upcoming weekend although there is a slight chance of thuderstorms all weekend. 

Upcoming Events 


First Annual West Coast Tarpon Challenge Weigh-in Rescheduled

  • Due to the stormy weather, the First Annual West Coast Tarpon Challenge weigh-in was postponed until Saturday. 
  • Anglers will be given the opportunity to fish one additional weekday of their choosing. The weigh-in celebration, complete with live music, will be held from 1-2 p.m. on Saturday, June 30, with the award presentation at 3:00 p.m.
  • This tournament is for the sole purpose of raising money to support All Children's Hospital organization and having fun with your family and children.

 

Fishing Forecast

Tropical Depression Debby will move away from the state today allowing winds and seas to slowly subside. High pressure over the southeastern states will shift southward into the northern Gulf on Thursday and into the Florida Straits by Saturday. The ridge of high pressure will build back over the Florida Peninsula on Sunday.

 

Thursday

Northeast winds around 5 knots becoming northwest in the afternoon. Bay and inland waters smooth. Thursday night will bring east winds around 5 knots. Bay and inland waters smooth.

 

Friday

Southeast winds around 5 knots becoming west 5 knots in the late morning and afternoon. Bay and inland waters smooth. Friday night will bring west winds around 10 knots. Bay and inland waters a light chop.

 

Saturday

West winds around 10 knots. Bay and inland waters a light chop. Saturday night will bring west winds around 10 knots. Bay and inland waters a light chop.

 

Sunday

West winds around 10 knots. Bay and inland waters a light chop. A slight chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon.
