Bradenton, Florida - John "Jack" Bailey Mackie passed away peacefully November 9, 2023. Jack was born on November 7, 1931 to Helen and Benjamin Mackie in Clearwater, FL. He graduated from Clearwater High School. He attended the University of Florida on a football scholarship for a year and then served in the United States Army during the Korean War as a Paratrooper. After his tour of duty, he attended the University of Tampa and graduated with a degree in Education. He accepted a position with the Manatee County School System teaching and coaching at Manatee and Southeast High Schools. He later became Dean of Boys at Manatee High School and retired after 32 years of service.
He is survived by his wife Mary, of 65 years, daughter, Sandy, sons, John Jr., Michael (Sarah) and grandchildren, Bailey and Charlotte. A private service will be held at Sarasota National Cemetery.
