Posted

Judy LaPrade passed away peacefully on Friday, April 4 at age 79. She was a loving mom, sister, aunt, friend, and meemaw. She is survived by two sons, Troy and James (Melody) LaPrade, and her sister Linda Windsor, and four grandchildren: James Jr., John, Drew and Jordan LaPrade (Kerry Cofer). She is also survived by extended family, nieces and nephews, whom she adored.

Judy, together with her late husband Jim, started a business over 51 years ago in Lynchburg, VA. The business still thrives today, with over sixty employee-owners. She was a hard worker, avid golfer, and enjoyed volunteering in her community.

Judy loved the ocean, playing cards, travel, and spending time with family and friends. One of Judy's unique accomplishments was being recognized for 3 "hole in ones" while playing golf. She also once walked 60 miles over 3 days to raise money for breast cancer research.

Judy will be remembered for her calm demeanor, positive nature, adventurous spirit, generous heart, and her inner strength and self-reliance. Her family would like to thank her caregiver (and friend) Beth, and also Judy's sister Linda, who have meant so much to Judy this past year.

Judy will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Her love and light will live on in the lives of those she touched. She was a beautiful shining star, and her memory will always burn brightly in our hearts.

A visitation will be held from 1-2pm on Saturday May 3, 2025 at Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory. A celebration of Judy's life will follow at 2pm.

Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory 43rd Street Chapel, 604 43rd Street West, Bradenton, FL 34209, is in charge of arrangements.
