Lakewood Ranch High Teacher Named Manufacturing Secondary Educator or the Year

Posted

BRADENTON -- The Executive Director of the Florida Advanced Technological Education Center announced recently that the FLATE Industry Advisory Committee selected Lakewood Ranch High School Engineering Technology Teacher Greg McGrew as the Manufacturing Secondary Educator of the Year for 2011.

FLATE’s awards recognize outstanding educators and industry professionals who have made significant contributions to the training and education of today’s high-tech workforce. This is the fifth year the awards have been given out. Lakewood Ranch High Career Advisor Michelle Todoroff nominated Greg McGrew for the award.

Greg has been an engineering technology instructor for over 15 years. He teaches technological skills through hands-on activities that involve tools and equipment used in the manufacturing, construction, transportation and engineering fields. In addition to teaching job-ready technical skills, Greg has also implemented the Manufacturing Skills Standards Council curriculum so his students can leave his program with a highly valued national industry certification. Greg's enthusiasm and experience cause him to constantly adjust his curriculum so his students are abreast of the latest technology.

Greg will receive his award at the Annual Manufacturers' Association of Florida Summit in Orlando in December.
