Posted

BRADENTON -- Captain Paul Ewers is retiring Friday after 25 years with the Bradenton Fire Department. Ewers will continue his role as the department’s chaplain. In February, he will be ordained as a pastor at Kingdom Life Christian Church.

Capt. Ewers joined the Bradenton Fire Department in 1987 to experience firsthand the rewards and challenges of the fire service. Chief Chuck Edwards said Capt. Ewers - affectionately known as "Cap'n Pauly“ around the station - was an en?thusiastic, dedicated firefighter always ready to tackle a new challenge.

"He demonstrated the sound leadership of a tenured officer, while also providing the genuine care and com?fort of a trusted chaplain," Chief Edwards said. "We are all quite pleased that he has chosen to remain the de?partment's chaplain, and look forward to many more years of friendship with him.
