Posted

BRADENTON — On Saturday March 28, 2015, Bradenton Police Department officers and detectives responded to Citrus Meadows Apartments for a reported unresponsive five month old infant. Paramedics were already on scene rendering Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation. Officer Roberts was the first officer on scene at which time he began assisting medical personnel and comforting family members. The infant was transported to Manatee Memorial Hospital where she was later pronounced as deceased by medical staff.

In the days following, Officer Roberts returned to the family’s residence on numerous occasions to visit family members and attempt to comfort them during this tragic time. Officer Roberts provided the family with his personal telephone number and requested that they contact him if they needed assistance, even while he was on vacation with his family.

On numerous occasions, the infant’s family expressed their sincere gratitude for the actions of Officer Roberts and Bradenton Police Department’s Detective Division during the investigation.

On Friday April 3, 2015, Officer Roberts participated in the 2015 Special Olympics Law Enforcement 5K Torch Run. During the event he ran with a picture of an angel and the name of the deceased infant, and her date of birth pinned to the back of his shirt. On Saturday April 4, 2015, Officer Roberts attended the funeral of the deceased infant to again, comfort the family.

Officer Roberts’ sympathy for the family and his interactions with them were truly sincere. His actions also demonstrated his commitment and dedication to the citizens of the City of Bradenton, so it is with pleasure that Chief of Police Michael Radzilowski named Officer Roberts Bradenton Police Department’s Officer of the Month for May 2015.”
