League of Women Voters to Hold Nonpartisan Election Event

Posted
BRADENTON – A nonpartisan voter education program will be held on Monday, August 1 at the Bradenton Woman's Club. Sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Manatee County, the event will have Supervisor of Elections Mike Bennett as its feature speaker.

The event is set to cover the entire list candidates on the Aug. 30 Primary ballot, and which of those primary races will be open to participation for voters not registered with one of the two major political parties.

The program will also provide information about online sample ballots, the three ways to vote, and the state constitutional amendment that will be on the primary ballot. (That amendment would exempt
"the assessed value of solar or renewable energy source devices subject to tangible personal property tax" from ad valoreum taxation.)

The Bradenton Woman's club is located at 1705 Manatee Avenue West. The event will go from noon to 1 p.m., with doors opening at 11:30 a.m. for lunch ($5 donation). Reservations are not required. For more information about the event, call 941-729-9248.
