Letter: A Champion of Democracy and a True Patriot?

Letters to the Editor
There are rare occasions when someone emerges with a clear, unadulterated mission and the almost obsessive zeal to see it through to its fruition. An image uncluttered with unnecessary nuances and coupled with a fiery commitment to the advancement of democracy and personal freedoms. A person who honors the true American history and that stands ready to protect, defend and preserve it. A person that stands shoulder to shoulder with any of the esteemed ancestors of either The Sons or The Daughters of the American Revolution; a person of incalculable stature.
So I ask, is this not the person we now see in Ron DeSantis? A person with an unwavering commitment to the equanimity and integrity of young minds. An ardent advocate of preserving the history of America. A person who fervently admires the many struggles of the early immigrants to America- the Irish, the Italians, the Jews, the Polish, the Germans and all the immigrants from throughout Europe- and who rightly celebrates their advancement and triumphs over adversity. It is a true and worthy story and should be shared with all generations.
There is no need to obscure this tale by introducing parallel stories about other peoples and their struggles, both past and present. Narratives about other racial minorities and the indigenous American people that are equally true, but might dim the limelight on the European story and require it to share the stage with other people’s journey.
No, he says, it is not worth the risk. The intellectual landscape must remain sanitized, so as not to cloud the young mind and to preserve the American story. It is not in freedom’s interest to confuse the mind with unnecessary details: Nuances to the American story that could produce tension and conflict in an individual and that would require reflection and effort to assimilate into a more complete framework.
People already have enough to contend with and must be protected from such unnecessary stress. All measures must be taken to preserve the original story and prevent any transitory shame or guilt that might occur on the pathway to a more balanced history. The story has worked well enough so far and, after all, it is a leader’s responsibility to protect and to guide one’s constituents. The Latinos, the Asians, the Indigenous Americans and all people of color will have to find their own bootstraps. It will not be found in the classroom.
So, we can clearly see that Ron DeSantis is a staunch defender of youthful minds and a pledged sentinel for any threats to the history of American Democracy. He has the courage to demand that educational curriculums be rewritten, seditious books be removed from library shelves and that there be constant surveillance for any material that might disrupt the status quo.
So, is this not a commitment and endeavor of heroic proportion?
