Several events for St. Patrick's Day are taking place in the Manasota area. Here are a few of them.
Old Main Street Merchants Association’s St. Patrick's Day Main Street Live Party
5 p.m. to midnight

Bradenton
Downtown Bradenton's St. Patrick's Day celebration will feature original live music from reggae band Boot Leg, food and beverage vendors, and other entertainment. Old Main will close to traffic at about 3 p.m. The event is free.
8th Annual St. Patrick's Day Block Party at Shamrock Pub
Starts at 9 a.m. (bands start at 4 p.m.)

Sarasota
Downtown Sarasota's Shamrock Pub will host eight live bands, a dance performance by the Drake School of Irish Dance and the Ticket Sarasota Limerick Contest Finals by Guinness. Also featured: a raffle as well as food and beverages for sale, including special cask ale from Sarasota's own Bigtop Brewing. The event will benefit the Sarasota Family YMCA Youth Shelter.

Bradenton
Motorworks will have Bodie Valdez & The Whoodoos Band and St. Paddy's drink specials for the day. The band will play in the beer garden. Taste Time Food Truck will be parked outside from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m., and Flame N Stone Food Truck will be there from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. In addition, pro-style No Limit Texas Holdem from Suncoast Poker League will start at 7 (buy-in is $0). There will also be plenty of free cornhole (also known as baggo), bocce ball and putting game play.
Siesta Key St. Patty's Day Pub Crawl
Starts at 9 p.m.

The Siesta Key Bloxx that Roxx Annual St. Patty's Day Pub Crawl will include festivities at Siesta Key Oyster Bar, who will be offering its Corned Beef & Cabbage, specialty drinks, the live band FolkLab and giveaways. Also participating in the crawl are Gilligan's Island Bar, Blase Cafe, 3.14 PI Craft Beer & Spirit and Daiquri Deck. Visit

The Young Irelanders

Sarasota
Traditional Irish folk music, dancing and singing will be performed by The Young Irelanders at the Van Wezel on Thursday night. The band of eight have performed all over the world, including Moscow's Kremlin State Palace, China's Great Hall of the People, New York City's Radio City Music Hall, Los Angeles's Pantages Theatre and the U.S. Capitol Building.
