BRADENTON -- Bradenton-based attorney Adam Tebrugge has filed to run for the Florida House of Representatives, District 71. Tebrugge, 50, will seek the Democratic nomination for the seat presently held by Representative Jim Boyd. District 71 stretches from the Skyway Bridge in Manatee County, to Siesta Drive in Sarasota County, and includes most voters who live west of the Tamiami Trail.
Tebrugge is a Tampa native who currently lives in Sarasota. He is a graduate of New College of Florida and the Florida State University College of Law. He served for 23 years as an Assistant Public Defender for Manatee, Sarasota and DeSoto counties and has been practicing at Tebrugge Legal since founding the downtown Bradenton firm in 2009.
Tebrugge previously served as President of the Sarasota County Civic League, Vice-Chair of the Sarasota Police Advisory Panel, and most recently, as Chair of the Suncoast Partnership to End Homelessness in Manatee and Sarasota counties.
”As a student of the law and an advocate for the people, I’m concerned that public policy is out of balance in Tallahassee,“ said Tebrugge in a release announcing his candidacy. ”I felt compelled to run to give a voice to the people of Manatee and Sarasota counties.“
