BRADENTON -- During Wednesday morning's meeting, the Bradenton City Council was given an update on the progress of construction for the soon-to-be world-class rowing facility at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota. Other events at the meeting included a successful motion to approve budgets for the Downtown Development Authority and Central Community Redevelopment Agency, an "agreement in principal" vote given on city financing for the new home of the Manatee Players and Kiwanis, and two approved designs for anti-horse litter Causeway signs.

3. PRESENTATION
- Update on Nathan Benderson Park & Suncoast Aquatic and Nature Center from Paul Blackketter. Mr. Blackketter had positive information to share with the council about improvements being made to the park's rowing facility, saying that construction "is moving at lightning speed" for expanding the park's lake in order to meet international standards for making a world-class place for competition. A bid by the park to host a world rowing championship as early as 2017 has been accepted, and the park hopes to host its first international triathalon by March of 2013.

b) Carl Callahan, City Clerk & Treasurer
    - Update on the Manatee Players. Mr. Callahan asked for an agreement in principal of the negotiation between the City of Bradenton, the Manatee Players and the Kiwanis Foundation for the city to help finance the new home of the Players and Kiwanis. Callahan said he was asking for only an agreement in principal at this time because "there are lot of loan documents, papers for finalizations of agreement that still need to be done." An agreement in principal, he said, would mean that final constructions plans could be moved forward with. The Council motioned for a vote on the agreement in principle, which passed 4-0, with Barnebey recusing herself due to a possible conflict of interest.

9. BUSINESS BY APPOINTMENT

10. COUNCIL REPORTS The increasingly frequent issue of horse litter on the Causeway came up, as a carefully worded report was given by Councilman Gene Gallo on how to enforce city code on violators, and requested council approval of signs that will be put up along the Causeway to advise horse riders to clean up after them. Approval of the signs was passed by a vote of 5-0. (story to follow)

11. DEPARTMENT HEAD REPORTS
