BRADENTON – Manatee County Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller, R.B. ”Chips“ Shore, announced Wednesday that he will not be able to issue his report by May 30, 2012, as expected. The new release date for the report will be no later than June 30, 2012.

”I apologize to everyone who has been waiting for this report to be issued,“ said Shore, ”We have not completed our report because we are waiting on legal opinions to interpret the Florida Statutes on how Inmate Commissary Funds can be used.“ Shore added, ”However, we are at the point where I can state that the evidence does not exist to support the allegations regarding the embezzlement of money from the Inmate Commissary Fund.“

The Clerk's office announced that it would be conducting its audit at the Sheriff's request in early April, following a work farm scandal, the investigation of which, led to allegations of embezzlement from the Inmate Commissary Fund.

”I appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as we wrap up the report," said Shore. As I said from the start, it’s imperative that we take the time and do this right so that all questions have been answered when we do release the report.“
