MANATEE COUNTY — For the 36th consecutive year, Manatee County Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller, R.B. "Chips" Shore, has been presented with the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for the County’s comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR), for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2014.

This Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting,

and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by government and its management.

The CAFR has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.

“It’s rewarding to be recognized by the GFOA for our reporting. We strive to make our financial reports clear and easy to understand. It’s imperative that taxpayers know how and where their money is being spent and that they feel comfortable with our service and transparency.

This report fully discloses the financial decisions and operations of our local government and I’m proud of my staff who do such fantastic work,” says R.B. “Chips”
