Citizens Comments

-- Citizen Don Browning said he hated to bring up a subject he thought to be settled, but he found a surveyor's stake in his drive and was told it was a right-a-way for a wide sweep into his neighboring property.

Browning said he had a meeting in the afternoon with the county, and there he hoped to find out what was going on. He wanted to be contacted if something came up on the agenda concerning the property.

-- Citizen Bob Litwiler CEO of 'Auto-Go, said he was there because he heard Ordinance 15-10 that was approved last Thursday, could endanger his business because of its restrictions on repairing autos.

He said he and family has invested more than $300,000 into his Auto-Go business (mechanic that comes to the client) and that the ordinance, which restricts auto repairs to minor repairs performed only by the property owner, could hurt his business.

Litwiler said he is a vet, works long hours, and has always been honest with his customers. He said he can't afford any interference that would cost him money and that he understood that the ordinance would do just that.

Commissioner Benac said, "whoever told him that, misinformed him, and that it wasn't true. Benac said emergency (small items) could be done in a timely manner. However, a staff member said twice on Thursday at the meeting, that the work had to be done by the property owner and that the owner of the car had to live on the property.

Twice, county staff "tweaked" the document to adjust to the complaints stirred by the law that prevents people from working on their car in the driveway.
