PALMETTO — Port Director Carlos Buqueras has negotiated a 5 percent employment salary increase to a three year agreement with the the Manatee Port Authority. The contract runs from May 1, 2015 to May 1, 2018.

The draft employment agreement includes a base salary increase of 5 percent to $198,725 and that the Authority fund an additional 2% in a deferred compensation program. The agreement shall supersede the previous employment agreement, and any amendments, to be the sole agreement between the parties.

The authority approved the agreement by a unanimous vote, and had nothing but praise for the three years Buqueras has served as director.  

Other compensations for automobile, life insurance, deferred compensation and travel expenses take the total package upward of $250,000 annually.
