SARASOTA – John Torraco, a Sarasota attorney, will contend for the 12th Judicial Circuit’s office of State Attorney on Nov. 6. The Twelfth Judicial Circuit prosecutes criminal offenders in Sarasota, Manatee and Desoto counties, ensuring public safety throughout those communities.
Having earned his Juris Doctorate from Georgetown University Law Center, Torraco said, ”I’ve worked in the federal system for two judges, with federal prosecutors and participated in several investigatory congressional inquires while working at the White House Office of Legal Counsel.“
Torraco recognizes the considerable amount of money invested by taxpayers in any state’s criminal justice system and is prepared to provide the three areas with efficient, organized trials, while remaining ethical and ”free from outside influences.“
”My focus will be on effectively prosecuting violent crime, but also successfully tackling pill mills, public corruption and crimes, such as mortgage fraud and scams perpetrated upon the seniors,“ he said. ”These types of prosecution must be given more attention by the State Attorney's office--and under my watch, that will happen.“
Torraco independently heads a civil and criminal law practice and office in South Sarasota County, also teaching law studies as a full-time adjunct professor at the State College of Florida’s Venice and Bradenton campuses. He further applies his passion for the public when being an arbitrator for the securities industry.
