Lorraine Margaret (Connell) Leeman-75, born and raised in Somerville, MA and resident of Bradenton, FL, passed away peacefully on the morning of July 10, 2024 after a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of the late James Leeman; with whom she shared nearly two decades of marriage. Lorraine and "Jimmy" met later in life and enjoyed a shared passion for good food, socializing with friends and taking island vacations.
As a child, she loved spending time at her family's cottage on Hampton Beach (MA); her affinity for the ocean was instilled at an early age. In her later years, she enjoyed winters in Killington, VT with her "ski buddies" and summers in Newport, RI. Lorraine was gregarious, loyal and supportive to family, friends and strangers alike. A very intelligent and hard-working woman, her career was in the dental and medical fields where she could utilize her knowledge and desire to help others.
Lorraine had a passion for music spanning many genres, from the Moody Blues, Beach Boys, and Stevie Nicks/Fleetwood Mac to name a few. A "fashionista", she had a knack for good taste and finding great bargains, especially at Filene's Basement in Boston. An enthusiast of fireworks, she indeed was a colorful firecracker by her very nature!
She is survived by her niece, Meredith Connell of Kingston, MA, and her "fur baby" Callie (cat). Lorraine leaves behind many friends who will miss her dearly. Raised in a Catholic household as the only daughter with loving parents who doted on her, and a deceased older brother who always protected her, she was a woman of prayer. Upon her last words, she quoted partially out of the book of Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 (For everything there is a season"). Now she is in her permanent, heavenly home amongst loved ones.
Internment will take place privately, where Lorraine will be laid to rest beside her late husband in Braintree, MA. A celebration of life will be held at a later date in the Boston, MA area. Donations in Lorraine's memory can be made to the Boys and Girls Club, 15 Green St, Charlestown, MA 02129.
