BRADENTON — Scientific studies show that global warming is taking place, and human-generated emissions are a major factor. In light of political and economic realities, what can be done to address this problem and prevent harmful effects to our planet?

Dr. Frank Alcock will be guest speaker at a Hot Topic program sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Manatee County, to be held on Monday, November 10, from 12 noon to 1:00 pm, at the Bradenton Woman’s Club, 1705 Manatee Ave. West.

Dr. Alcock, Associate Professor of Political Science and Environmental Studies at New College of Florida, will update the audience on the current trends and timelines, and discuss the various options for reducing excess carbon emissions.

The public program is free of charge (donation requested for lunch). Doors open at 11:30 am for a light lunch and social time. For more information, call 729-9248.
