BRADENTON – Manatee County Sheriff Detectives have arrested John Sabin of Lakewood Ranch in connection with a road rage incident that occurred yesterday morning. Sabin, 45, has been charged with Aggravated Battery after being positively identified as the attacker by the victim, John Lee, also of Lakewood Ranch.

The brutal attack, which left Lee requiring facial stitches and treatment for a punctured lung, occurred in the parking lot of Braden River Elementary School where Lee was taking his young child to school. Prior to the attack, the suspect was reportedly tailgating Lee through the residential neighborhood. The suspect’s driving became increasingly aggressive as he tried to pass Lee several times on the two lane road which has a posted 30 mph speed limit.

The suspect then followed Lee into the school parking lot, where he reportedly pummeled him in front of his young son. After the attack, Lee was transported to the Lakewood Ranch Medical Center where he was treated for his injuries. If convicted of Aggravated Battery, a judge is required to impose a minimum prison sentence of 21 months in prison and up to 15 years and $15,000 in fines.
