BRADENTON – At Tuesday's Land Use meeting, commissioners approved Twin Rivers phase IV-C. In addition, commissioners approved a manufacturing development program, though with strong dissent from Commissioner Charles Smith who promised protests by the hundreds for floodwater in his district that he blames Tropicana Inc. for.

COMMISSIONER COMMENTS

-- Chappie: Design phase for the Ana Maria Island bridge is funded.

-- DiSabatino: The neighborhood newsletter is the best way to get things out to district constituents (referring to Smith's claim he didn't get info out on the voting machines).

Now on real estate, new listings are up, sales are up and sale prices are up; except for short sales prices, they are down considerably.

-- Baugh: Groundbreaking for the double diamond at University and I-75 started.

-- Whitmore: Thanked Baugh for their trip to Tallahassee that convinced Representative Greg Steube to bump the University Parkway project (double diamond interchange) up on the FDOT list. Whitmore said they had a great time on the trip.

-- Smith: Said it was time to organize a protest (regarding his dissent in item 10) because his "concerns were falling on deaf ears" and that he has lost hope. Smith said the day was coming where 600 to 700 would show up at the dais and at Tropicana in protest. Smith said he knew Tropicana wouldn't like that.

-- Benac: Said she attended the EDA sponsored Policy Making meeting on organizing for the first time.
