BRADENTON -- The Manatee County Natural Resources Department
will partner with the Audubon Society to host the ”Winged Migration“ Bird Watching Tour at Robinson
Preserve. Join Master Birder Dan Irizarry, a nationally renowned
Audubon Society tour leader, for a trek through the preserve on Wednesday November 16th and help us update our bird list! This fun morning stroll will introduce participants to bird watching basics including identification by sight, sound, and behavior. We’ll also discuss the tools of the trade as we explore proper binocular use and field study techniques.
It’s fall in Florida and that means
Robinson is already a hot spot for birding activity! Its mangrove-covered shores provide an evening roost for a variety of shorebirds, and also provide the perfect perch for migrating birds looking for a rest stop. The inner lakes and estuarine waterways attract a wide variety of waterfowl, and a number of birds of prey frequent the location, too. Whether you’re an experienced super-spotter or a novice beginner birder, this is a great opportunity to explore a beautiful site and learn from a master!
The group will meet in the parking lot at 8:00 AM. Tour lasts approximately three hours; we should return to the parking lot around 11:00 AM. Please bring binoculars if you have them. Wear outdoor clothes and close-toed shoes. We also recommend bringing bug spray and water! Reservations are requested: please email
Melissa.nell@mymanatee.org or call (941) 748-4501 ext. 4605 today!
