The leadership team for the district consists of the Manatee County School Board and Superintendent Tim McGonegal. Only 30 of 67 school districts in Florida currently hold this distinction.
The Master Board Program is a voluntary program sponsored and designed by the Florida School Boards Association. The program has a formalized training curriculum designed to strengthen the leadership team’s ability to work effectively, efficiently and collectively as a governance group while maintaining a focus on student learning and factors that contribute to student success.
Some of the concepts covered in the training include ”Consensus Building“; ”Establishing Trust“; ”Conflict Resolution“; and ”Board Self-Evaluation.“
”The Master Board training provided us with a valuable collection of tools to use as we work together to fulfill our mission of preparing our students to learn, dream and achieve,“ said Manatee County Board Chair Jane Pfeilsticker.
The district’s leadership team had to complete 22 hours of learning activities and onsite workshops to earn this distinction.
