BRADENTON – For the second straight game, the
Marauders (46-40, 8-10) came from behind to win in extra innings over the Brevard County Manatees (26-59, 3-14) by a final of 6-5 in 11 innings.
Jordan Luplow (1-for-5, BB) hit a grounder that got through the legs of Manatees shortstop Jose Cuas and allowed the winning run to score.
Jerrick Suiter (2-for-5, RBI, R, BB) got things going in the bottom of the first with an RBI single that made it 1-0.
The Manatees offense awoke in the top of the third. Corey Ray (2-for-6, RBI) blooped a RBI single in the top of the third to even the score at 1. Later, Clint Coulter (5-for-6, HR, 2B, 2 RBI, 3 R) drove in Omar Garcia with an RBI double to make it 2-1. Brevard County sent eight batters to the plate in the inning.
Blake Allemand (1-for-4, 3B, RBI, 2 BB) added to the lead with an RBI triple in the top of the fifth to make it 3-1.
The Marauders got their second run in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI double by Pablo Reyes (1-for-3, 2B, 2 RBI, SF) to cut the deficit to 3-2.
The Manatees scored their fourth run on an RBI single by Fidel Pena (2-for-5, RBI) in the top half of the seventh.
Bradenton’s offense struck back in the bottom half of the inning. Reyes drove in his second run with a sacrifice fly that cut the Manatees’ lead to 4-3. They tied the game at 4 on an RBI single by Tito Polo (2-for-5, RBI, R). Polo later came around to score on a passed ball by Marcos Diplan to put the Marauders ahead 5-4.
But Coulter homered with two strikes and two out in the top of the ninth to tie the game at 5.
