BRADENTON – After a slug-fest yesterday, the Marauders (50-43, 12-13) were shutout in 10 innings by the Clearwater Threshers (55-38, 16-9) by a final of 2-0.
Neither side had a base runner reach third base through the first eight innings. The first came in the top of the ninth, when
the Threshers had runners at first and third with one out, but Sam Street struck out the next two batters he faced to get out of the inning.
But Mitch Walding (1-for-4, RBI, BB) hit an RBI single to give Clearwater a 1-0 lead with two out in the top of the tenth.
They added a run on a wild pitch by Luis Heredia to make it 2-0.
Threshers right-hander John Richy had his best outing of the season. He pitched 7 scoreless innings giving up only 2 hits and 2 walks and struck out 2.
Marauders starter Austin Coley’s streak of 17 straight starts with a decision came to a close. He went 6 scoreless innings surrendering only 4 hits and a walk with 4 strikeouts.
