BRADENTON -- Meals on Wheels Plus of Manatee announced its appointment of Virginia Orenstein to Board Chair. Orenstein has been on the Board since 2002, and most recently served as Chair of the Finance Committee. As co-editor of Living Out East and On The Bay Magazine, Orenstein is dedicated to the enhancement of the local community.
”I am delighted to have the opportunity to help develop the future of Meals on Wheels Plus of Manatee, an organization that has such a meaningful impact for seniors and the hungry in Manatee County,“ Orenstein said.
Since 1972, Meals on Wheels PLUS of Manatee, Inc. has been assisting individuals to live independently by providing nutrition and caring supportive services. Over 60 percent of the organization's funds must be raised through local donations, grants, and fundraising projects.
Other members of the new executive committee of the Board include Vice Chair Terry Pomfret, Vice President of Fahey Pest Management; Treasurer Terry Wells, First VP and Retail Manager of Whitney Bank; Secretary Susan Kopstad, President of Seabreeze Coffee and Tea; and Member-at-Large William Robinson, Principle Partner with Blalock, Walters, Held, and Johnson.
In addition to the Executive Committee are twelve prominent community members who serve on the Board to provide guidance and support for the organization, the area’s primary senior care provider and largest hunger prevention organization. For individuals or corporations interested in getting involved, sponsorships and volunteer opportunities are available.
