August 23, 1971 - July 24, 2024
Bradenton, Florida - With grateful hearts for a life well-lived, we announce the passing of Mitchell Lee Moore, age 52, a nearly life-long resident of Bradenton, FL.
Mitch passed away on July 24, 2024, from complications from a 25-year courageous battle with a spinal cord injury that resulted from a car accident when he was just 27 years old. The accident, which left him a quadriplegic, shaped his life, but it never defined it. He didn't let it. Instead, Mitch tirelessly strived to be an AMAZING husband who cherished his wife Stephanie, a very loving and protective father to "his pumpkin Haley", an Elder in his church, business owner, and friend and he will be remembered for his accomplishments in these roles and so many others.
Mitch was a pillar of strength, a prayer warrior for all of those in his circle, even strangers on the street and a man of deep and unwavering faith in Jesus. Adventurous, quick-witted, loved to joke around, patient, and full of joy despite his physical struggles, Mitch was devoted to God, his wife of 29 years, Stephanie, and his beloved daughter, Haley. His hobbies included boating (even having a specialized boat adapted for his wheelchair), fishing, being outdoors, he loved nature and cherished time with his family and friends, and loved all things aviation.
Born in Pensacola, FL, on August 23, 1971, Mitch moved with his family to Bradenton at the age of three. When he was 17, while a student at Southeast High School, Mitch met the love of his life, Stephanie Jo Carson, and the two became inseparable, marrying on January 28, 1995, a day Mitch and Stephanie refer to as one of "the sweetest days" of their lives.
In 1995, after studying construction and entrepreneurship at Manatee Community College, Mitch started his own business, Lightning Construction, which he has owned and operated with the help of his brother, Jeff, for the last 30 years. Despite a successful business, Mitch was happiest spending time with his dear wife, and watching his precious daughter, Haley Negron (Moore), flourish. One of the most joyous days of Mitch's life was last summer when he gave his daughter away in marriage to her loving husband, Gabe. Mitch and Haley, lovingly referred to as "pumpkin" by her dad, loved grabbing sushi together, watching movies, and pulling silly pranks just for fun.
An elder and long-time member of The Church At Bradenton, Mitch served his church family the last two decades through leading marriage classes alongside his wife, facilitating Bible studies, as well as volunteering as a youth leader. From 2006-2008, Mitch and Stephanie started and led a support group for people with spinal cord injuries and their families at Bayfront Medical Center in Tampa. In addition, Mitch volunteered with and encouraged veterans returning home from Iraq and Afghanistan with Traumatic Brain Injuries. His impact upon so many can never be measured.
Mitch was preceded in death by his parents, David and Patricia Moore, and his brothers, Brian and Kirk Moore. He leaves behind his loving wife, Stephanie, of 29 years, and his devoted daughter and son in law, Haley and Gabe Negron of Minneapolis, MN. He also leaves behind his brother, David (Robin) Moore and Jeff (Candy) Moore, as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life service will be held at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, July 31, at The Church at Bradenton: First Church of God, 2520 43rd St. West, Bradenton, FL 34209. Friends are invited to arrive at 3:30 p.m. for fellowship and to greet the family.
