Movers and Shakers Movers and Shakers: Coastal Orthopedics

Posted

SARASOTA — Three physicians at Coastal Orthopedics Sports Medicine & Pain Management (CoastalOrthopedics.com) have been named to an exclusive list of the nation’s top doctors compiled by Castle Connolly Medical Ltd. The company, which helps consumers find the best healthcare possible, selected Coastal Orthopedics’ Drs. Arthur L. Valadie, Gennady Gekht and Steven J. Schafer for the recognition, choosing the three physicians from more than 100,000 applications.

More than 50,000 physicians and hospital and healthcare executives participate in Castle Connolly’s nomination process, and physicians are not allowed to nominate themselves. Once the nominations have been made, Castle Connolly’s research team makes thousands of phone calls to specialists and researchers to learn more about the nominees and winnow the list to the best qualified.

Drs. Valadie and Schafer work as sports medicine specialists with Coastal Orthopedics while Dr. Gekht specializes in pain management. This year’s Castle Connolly listing represents the third straight year Drs. Valadie and Schafer have received the recognition. It is the second straight year that Dr. Gekht has been named a top doctor.
