BRADENTON — Halfacre Construction Company, the area's oldest, most established, locally owned and operated private commercial construction company, was selected to renovate the Sarasota County Tax Collector and Property Appraiser building.
The remodeling will begin in June 2015 and will take about six months from start to finish, with an anticipated December 2015 completion date. The project includes a complete interior renovation of the Sarasota County Tax Collector and Property Appraiser offices on the first floor of the Terrace Building. These areas will receive new finishes, electric and systems updates, enhanced workspace areas and heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC).
”Our team is looking forward to working closely with the Halfacre Construction Company on this important project,” said Mike Bryant, executive vice president of Fawley-Bryant, the architect on the remodel. “A complex project, which must maintain essential public services during the complete renovation, this project which will require an experienced team like Halfacre Construction who can build quickly, safely and with minimal interruption to the ongoing operations within the building.”
This $1.2 million renovation is part of the yearlong, phased restoration project on the Terrace Administration Building. Located at 101 S. Washington Blvd. in Sarasota, the building originally known as the Sarasota Terrace Hotel was constructed in 1925 by Charles Ringling, president of the company. At 11 stories, 125 rooms and a construction cost of nearly $750,000, the Sarasota Terrace Hotel was touted as one of the finest in Florida. Since its construction, the building has been renovated several times.
During the duration of the renovation, all public services will remain functional and operational to the public.
