Posted

The annual observance of the National Day of Prayer will be held at the Palmetto Historical Park on Thursday, May 5, 2016, beginning at 9:00 a.m. The park is located at 515 10th Avenue West in Palmetto.

This year’s theme is ”Wake Up America“ based on Isaiah 58:1: ”Shout it aloud, do not hold back, raise your voice like a trumpetÉ“

The National Day of Prayer is sponsored by PalmettoBUILD and a National Day of Prayer local task force. Guest speakers, special music and refreshments are planned for the program.

School Board Superintendent Dr. Diana Greene will pray for education and Senator Bill Galvano will pray for government. Other prayers will be offered in Greek, Spanish and French.

In 2015, over 43,000 prayer gatherings took place from coast to coast. It was the largest National Day of Prayer in U.S. history. The 2015 National Observance in Washington D.C. was broadcast into ninety countries and was watched by over 450,000 people.

This year will be the 65 th annual observance of the National Day of Prayer. The National Day of Prayer task force works diligently to preserve our religious freedom to gather and pray. Please join us for this inspirational day of collective prayer.
