BRADENTON – Students, parents and the general public will get a chance to tour the beautiful new Palmetto Elementary School during an Open House this Saturday, December 4, 2010. Students are scheduled to begin classes in the new facility when they return from the Winter Holiday break on Tuesday, January 4, 2011.
Current students and parents are encouraged to stop by the Open House to see the new school this Saturday, between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Area residents are invited to see the new school between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m.
The address for the new school is 1540 10th St. W., in Palmetto. The Open House will include performances by Palmetto Elementary students, tours of the new facility and a special hot dog and hamburger picnic.

The culmination of almost a decade of efforts to replace the aging and outdated school located on 7th St. W. in Palmetto, the new Palmetto Elementary covers 107,437 square feet and contains 955 student stations. Construction costs for the new facility totaled $17.4 million.
Key contributers to the new school include Hoffman Architects, P.A.; NDC Construction Company; School Board Member Barbara Harvey; and Design Team Members:Vicky Buselton, Diane Lang, Jody Wyman, Caroline Hoffner, Bonnie Moore and Palmetto Elementary Principal Eddie Hundley.
