AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TAMPA BAY RUSKIN FL 9:34 AM EST TUES JUNE 9 2016
UPDATE...
Morning water vapor satellite imagery is showing a slightly drier
air mass filtering into northern Florida, while a ribbon of deep
tropical moisture remains across central and southern Florida,
largely due to a surface trough that has been lingering since
Colin departed. The KTBW 12z sounding is showing the impacts of
this surface trough, with precipitable water values still just
above 2 inches. Under this deep moisture, scattered showers have
been continuing throughout the morning, and are expected to
increase into the afternoon. The forecast problem of the day will
be the flooding threat, with already moist ground from Tropical
Storm Colin, and several additional inches of rain falling over
the interior yesterday. This same area looks to be the focus of
rain this afternoon, so the flood watch remains in effect for
interior parts of the forecast area from Polk County south.
