Obituary: Joseph E. Jones

Joseph E. Jones, 88, Bradenton, died June 25, 2016.

Joseph Edgar Jones, born August 19, 1927, grew up Altoona, PA and he was the youngest of his family with a brother and two sisters now deceased.

Mr. Jones was husband of sixty five years to Sarah ''Sally'' (until she passed away on Jan 1, 2015).

Mr. Jones was a good father to his eight children and their spouses, Thomas (Irma), Anne (William) Downey, Mary Ellen (Thomas) Adams, Timothy (Linda), Patricia (Mark) Eatough, David (Mary), Michael (Jaye) and Kate (Martin) Rifkin as well as nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Mr. Jones served two years in the Navy at the end of WWII. After the Navy, he followed in his father's footsteps and became a Funeral Director. He opened his own funeral home in Pittsburgh in 1950.

He moved his wife and family to Bradenton, FL in July 1973, where he was an area business man. Mr. Jones was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and was an usher for many years. He was also a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus.

Joseph Jones was a good husband, a good father, a good man and was much loved by his family.

Visitation will be 6-8PM Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory 26th Street Chapel.

Mass will be 10AM Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church of Bradenton.

Inurnment will be at Sarasota National Cemetery next to his wife at a later date.
