Martin "Marty" Golden, 73, Palmetto, passed away on January 14.
Marty was one of our neighbors who lived and owned properties on Arlington Road in Bay Colony, Palmetto from 1985 until he suddenly passed away. Marty was born in Rochester, N.Y. on October 30, 1942. He attended Houghton College, R.I.T and the University of Rochester.
He married Virginia in 1971. They lived in Rochester until 1979 when they moved to San Jose, California to open a Western Branch of Elmar Industry, that his Father started in Depew, a suburb of Buffalo, N.Y. In 1990 Marty and Virginia retuned from California to the Buffalo area Plant.
They commuted to Bay Colony when possible.Marty's only daughter, Lynne, was born in 1964. Marty was voted a "LIFE MEMBER" of B.C.P.O.A. a few years ago by our Board and Members for his service, (a member for nearly 30 years), for his dedication and generosity to our B.C.P.O.A. Marty had introduced the Bay Colony Directories, absorbing the costs of Printing and shipping about 250 directories every year, for over 25 years.
Marty worked diligently with Frank and Betty Seiz, who kept records of all Real Estate sales, updated changes, working with Marty's staff on a regular basis. Frank and Betty Seiz, would assemble the directories, distribute them to Street Captains for delivery. The directories were discontinued a few years ago and similar information was transferred to the Bay Colony Website. What great volunteer work by Marty, Frank and Betty Seiz. Kudos to them.
Marty will be missed by his family, members, friends and neighbors who knew him.
Who was Martin Golden? Marty was a good man, a solid American, devoted Family man, a good neighbor who cared about Bay Colony. Yes, that's who Marty Golden was.
