Vivian Lorraine Whitlock
Zimmerman departed this life peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday,
February 28, 2016 after a brief illness.
Vivian was born on December 10, 1927
in Baltimore, MD. Vivian graduated from Sparrow Point High School, graduated
from Bard Avon Secretarial School and worked as a secretary for Baltimore Gas
and Electric.
Vivian also attended Gettysburg College in Gettysburg, PA, where
she met Donald Theos Zimmerman, Sr. who she married on June 27, 1948. In
June, Vivian and Donald would have celebrated their 68th wedding
anniversary.
Vivian was a member of the Charlottesville VA Junior League and an
active member of the First Presbyterian Church also in Charlottesville. Vivian
was very proud of her five children and was very actively involved in
their school and sports activities.
After Don’s retirement from State Farm
Insurance in Charlottesville in 1988, they moved to Florida and became actively
involved in the El Conquistador Country Club and First Presbyterian Church in
Bradenton, FL.
Vivian loved to travel and spend time with her family.
Vivian is
preceded in death by her parents, Ernest Elwood and Dorothy Francis Nelson
Whitlock of Baltimore, MD.
She is survived by her husband, Donald Theos
Zimmerman, Sr. of Bradenton, FL; daughter, Susan Z. Whitman and her husband, M.
Hamilton Whitman III of Baltimore MD; son, Donald Theos Zimmerman, Jr. and
his wife, Dr. Tamela S. Zimmerman of Cincinnati OH; daughter, Meg L. Zimmerman
of Baltimore, MD; daughter, Kim Z. Gardner-Ewell of Lynchburg, VA. and daughter
Jan Z. White and husband Landon R. White of Crozet, VA; nine grandchildren, Dr.
Miles Whitman and husband, Chris Benson, Hannah Whitman Clark and husband,
Matt, Donald Theos Zimmerman, III (Ty) and his wife, Anna, Liza Whitlock
Zimmerman, Cassel J. Moschetto and L. Gibson Gardner and H. Lee Gardner, L.
Reid White and Grady R. White and a great grandson, Henry Silas Benson.
Visitation 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2016 with Service 11 a.m.Thursday March 3, 2016 at Brown
& Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory 26th Street Chapel, 5624 26th Street
West, Bradenton, FL 34207.
