Palmetto Art Center Celebrates Farm City Week Saturday Night

PALMETTO -- Palmetto Art Center will celebrate Farm City Week through an art exhibition with musical guest November 20, 2010. The event is meant to signify Manatee County and the City of Palmetto’s association with its agricultural past.

Each year in November, Manatee County celebrates its heritage with Farm City Week. PAC will wrap-up the week-long celebration with an art show entitled ART meets Agriculture. Over 20 talented, local, visual artists will be on exhibit and Electric Myakka will play blue grass on the side street stage for two hours from 6 – 8 p.m. Rug demos, and live art by CHEETA will also unfold as the full moon rises.

The show’s opening reception is open to all who are looking for a social evening of family friendly fun. Admission is free. Select artwork, wine and soft drinks will be on sale. For those who cannot attend the opening reception, PAC Gallery is open Monday – Friday 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., and closed on Wednesdays. The show will continue until December 17, 2010.

Tim Jaeger and Jeff Schwartz, two professional contemporary painters will be on exhibit, along with agricultural-inspired canvas, photography, ceramics, jewelry, rug weaving and live art.

PAC strives to better acquaint the county and the City of Palmetto’s community with the work of local artists and their impressions of our agricultural past and future.
