Palmetto City Commission Agenda Results: Aug. 15, 2016

PALMETTO – At Monday's Palmetto City Commission meeting, members voted to approve Ordinance 2016-11, rezoning a small 50'x100' parcel at 706 13th Street West. In other business, members voted to approve a list of engineers, architects, landscapers and surveyors to be the go-to when needing professional help.

1. CITY COMMISSION AGENDA APPROVAL

Action Request: Motion to approve the August 15, 2016 Agenda. – Approved, Unanimous

2. PUBLIC COMMENT
Public Comment: Comments shall be limited to two minutes. Commission does not generally take action on any matter raised during these public comments, but may direct the matter to be placed on the agenda of a future meeting, if appropriate.

4. CCNA FOR ENGINEERING, ARCHITECTURE, SURVEYING AND MAPPING, AND LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE SERVICES (A. Tusing) (TAB 6)
The Evaluation Committee recommends:
¥ Architecture: Fawley, Bryant, Garry & Roberts, Moore 2 Design, and Ugarte & Associates

Action Request: Motion to approve evaluation committee recommendations and authorize staff to request price proposals and begin negotiations for continuing contracts with the firms as listed above. – Approved, Unanimous

5. LIEN REDUCTION REQUEST (J. Freeman) (TAB 7)
Request for reduction in lien regarding property located at 507 14th Avenue West.

Action Request: Motion to deny the request.

Action Request: Motion to reduce the amount of the lien to - $5,927.27 If paid within 30 days

6. PUBLIC HEARING ORDINANCE 2016-11 REZONE (D. Woithe) (TAB 8)
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PALMETTO, FLORIDA, PROVIDING FOR FINDINGS OF FACT; REZONING APPROXIMATELY 0.14 ACRES OF PROPERTY GENERALLY LOCATED AT 706 13TH STREET WEST, PALMETTO, FROM MULTIPLE FAMILY RESIDENTIAL (RM-6) TO BUSINESS AND LIGHT COMMERCIAL (CG); PROVIDING FOR REPEAL OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE (Parcel ID #26302.0000/0; Property Owner: City of Palmetto)

City Clerk, Jim Freeman – "We will meet on Wednesday, August 24, at 6 p.m. If the budget remains the same, we won't meet again until Sept. 12 or the 26, for the final meeting before meeting to approve the budget.

Police Chief Tyler – No problems whatsoever for the first day of school.

12. COMMISSIONERS’ COMMENTS

– Davis: Tuesday (tomorrow) morning there will be a morning prayer from 7:30 to 8:30. Everyone is invited to the first Baptist Church in Palmetto.

– Cornwell: This is the best year ever for the first day of school. Someone must have talked to the kids. They are all using the crosswalks and being good.
