PALMETTO — For many years the idea of a hotel next to what is now the Bradenton Area Convention Center, was just that, only an idea. But at Monday's Palmetto City Commission meeting members approved a Map Amendment, and a Text Amendment that brings that idea closer to a reality.
Part of the problem was that the only available land was a 13 + acre parcel boardering the convention center that has access challenges, as well as limited space.
Almost no one has been opposed to the idea; the area and the number of event participants that the venue draws are always looking for lodging.

Manatee County officials authored the amendment zoning changes from Public Service Facility (PF) to Planned Community (PC), which is located at 1 Haben Boulevard, Palmetto Florida.
The county and the City of Palmetto will be entertaining designs, plans and bids some time in the not so distant future.
Palmetto Commissioners were all pleased to finally be getting closer to getting a hotel.
