Paulino Scores Grossman in 9th for Marauders Walkoff Win

Posted
BRADENTON, FL – The Bradenton Marauders, Class A-Advanced affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates, danced off with victory for the second time in three games Sunday, 2-1 against the Tampa Yankees at McKechnie Field.

A classic pitcher’s duel, neither starter factored in the decision with both Brett Lorin and Graham Stoneburner firing seven sterling innings.  Lorin allowed one run on just three fifth inning singles.  Stoneburner threw shutout ball, allowing just two singles.

Down 1-0 in the eighth inning the Marauders mounted a comeback against reliever Daniel Burawa, scoring once in the eighth and ninth innings.  In the eighth in was a single by Evan Chambers followed by a single from Kelson Brown.  In the ninth it was a single by Robbie Grossman followed by a single from Carlos Paulino.  Grossman’s run won the game and was his 91st of the season, the best total in the Florida State League.

The win comes two days after Grossman had the walk-off hit to beat Tampa 6-5 at McKechnie Field.  Bradenton is now 18-13 in the second half.  Tampa falls to 16-14.

Bright House Field hosts Bradenton for the next four days against the Clearwater Threshers.  Jhonathan Ramos and Jonathan Pettibone faceoff Monday at 7:00.  Radio coverage begins at 6:45 on 1280-AM WTMY.  For more information visit BradentonMarauders.com.
